History of Our Club
| Members presented with the Charter in 1929. |

|
A short history of the Club; the club first met at the Woodside Hotel on 5th December 1928.
It owed its origin to the enthusiasm of a few members of the Rotary Club in Liverpool who resided here in Birkenhead and who,
with commendable vision decided that the principles of Rotary would find ready acceptance in the town.
The club was granted its Charter on 13th February 1929.
The Birkenhead Club seems to be bucking the
trend of many such membership clubs in Wirral and beyond, by actually increasing its membership, now including a wide age
range of people from 30 to 95 years old !
Newer members comment that this is partly
due to the warm and welcoming atmosphere at meetings, which are held every Wednesday lunchtime at Prenton Golf Club. Fellowship,
fun and a certain amount of fundraising is the norm and members are free to become involved as time and commitments allow.
There is always a helping hand from members should the need arise.

| In 2004 in Birkenhead Town Hall, Rotarians are pictured c elebrating the club's 75th anniversary. |
