President Charles Farnell is pictured with The Mayor and Mayoress
of Wirral Cllr. Phil Gilchrist and Mrs. Chris Gilchrist during a recent lunchtime reception celebrating the Club’s 79th
anniversary. The 79th Charter luncheon was attended by almost 100 members, visiting
Presidents and Rotarians from across the region, which includes North West Wales, Merseyside, Lancashire and Wirral.

During the event President
Charles honoured Birkenhead Club Member Paul North, (pictured right) presenting him with a Paul Harris Fellowship in recognition
of the huge contribution he had made over a number of years for Rotary projects.
President Charles commented;
“Paul North is a shining example of what Rotarians should aspire to.”
Paul has been a member of Birkenhead Rotary for 30 years and during that time has served on many committee’s,
is a past president and worked tirelessly behind the scenes.

Peter is an optometrist and contact lens practitioner with his own practice in Bebington. He
also runs a specialist contact lens clinc at Arrowe Park Hospital and is an examiner for the College of Optometrists.
He is married to Dorothy, also an optometrist, and has grown up daughters. Peter is very involved in the charity Vision
Aid Overseas ( www.vao.org.uk) and has completed siz overseas projects in East Africa.

David Martin, born in New Brighton is married to Marilyn and has a daughter Lisa living in London
and son Neil living in Manchester. He worked throughout, 40 years in Littlewoods chain stores as store manager, regional
manager, national manager and Ops Support Director. David now serves Liverpool Cathedral as a non executive director
on their Enterprises Board. His interests include Everton FC, producing videos and worldwide travel especially cruises.

Andrew Dawson
Andrew is married
with 3 children and is a regulatory lawyer at his own business Brunswicks LLP and a Conservative Councillor on Vale Royal
and Frodsham Town Council. Andrew met his wife Dianne at Chester Rotact 19 years ago in the Falcon Pub on Pepper Street.
He is a day skipper, a cyclist, a kayaker, loves history and computers.
