The winning Youth Speaks

Once again Birkenhead
Rotary has hosted a “Youth Speaks” competition organised by Rotarian Norman Jones and held at Birkenhead Sixth
Form College.
The winners of the senior
competition were South Wirral High School and their subject was “Politics. Has it lost its relevance to young people?”
The speaker was Daniel Tyler, the chairperson was Katie Pinch and the vote of thanks was given by Lauren Whitford-Stark.
“This topic was
powerful and compelling”, commented Norman Jones. It was so compelling that they also won the Rotary District 1180 Youth
Speaks Competition and were presented with the Joan Pyke trophy.
The runners up were Wirral
Grammar School for Girls and their subject was “Where is the love?” The
speaker was Laura Barrett, the chairperson was Sarah Warsaw and the vote of thanks was given by Melissa O’Brien.
The
winners of the Intermediate section were Wirral Grammar School for Girls and their subject was “Child Labour”.
The speaker was Hannah Barnes, the chairperson was Sophie Money and the vote of thanks was given by Holly Jackson.
